About Us

About the Kingsbridge Kingfishers Swimming Club

We're a friendly, fast and fiercely proud competitive swimming club based at Quayside Leisure Centre in Kingsbridge, South Devon. Founded in 1998, we now have around 100 swimmers across bronze, silver and gold squads and we've been growing stronger every year since.

Affiliated to Swim England, Devon County ASA and Swim England South West.

Our swimmers compete at local friendly galas, Devon County meets and open meets across the region. Kingfishers have represented Devon, qualified for regional and national championships, and stood on the podium.

Everything you need.

Your club. Your pool. Your swimmers.

Kingsbridge Kingfishers is the home of competitive swimming in the South Hams. Whether your child

is taking their first race steps or pushing for regional times, this is where it happens.

We're always looking for the next generation of Kingfishers. Could that be your child?

Ready to give it a go? Email kksccoach@gmail.com to find out when our next trial is.

What you'll need

You'll need to have completed Stage 7 or above in swimming lessons. Confident in the water and ready to train? You're in the right place.

How it works

Every new swimmer does a short assessment so we can place them in the right squad. It's not about passing or failing - it's about finding the right fit.

Get on the list

Trials run roughly once a term. To express an interest in joining us, simply email us your child's name, date of birth and current swimming level to get started.

Testimonials

What our community says

Swim happy, swim fast - that's the goal. But don't take our word for it. Here's what our swimmers, parents and carers say about being part of the club.

“We love being a part of KKSC, both my daughter and I have made new friends (both within the club and with other swimmers/officials/coaches of other clubs), it’s a super friendly team and whether you want to dabble in low level galas or want to try compete against the best at counties or beyond – there is a place for each ambition.”

Parent

“If you are thinking of joining the club, come and chat to any of the KKSC team - the coaches, committee members and families are very approachable if you have any questions. We were in your shoes a few years ago - once newbies but quickly welcomed, becoming part of the club.”

Parent

“I would whole-heartedly recommend the wonderful KKSC to anyone considering joining a swimming club. The coaches, volunteers, officials and committee members are all super friendly and welcoming and the swimmers are exceptional at supporting each other and looking out for their fellow club members of all ages and abilities.”

Parent

“Go for it! The club can be great for all the family, if you want it to be. The environment is fantastic to grow confidence and make new friends.”

Parent

“Kingfishers will not only make you a great swimmer, it will also make you feel like part of a supportive and inspiring team. It's so much fun to train with your friends, it feels like a big family. Swimming will build lifelong skills and there is no fitness like swim fitness!”

Parent

“Kingfishers has a nice sense of community, everyone gets along and it’s a great form of fitness. It is also a fun way to talk to your friends, and I love the quietness and focus I get when I am in the water.”

Swimmer

“Get involved! Swimming is a brilliant sport and KKSC is a great club”.

Master

“I remember how daunting it can be to join a new club, but those nerves fade quickly and taking that small step outside your comfort zone can open the door to so many opportunities, experiences, friendships and life skills! Everyone starts somewhere, and we always make a real effort to help new families feel comfortable and part of the group from day one”.
